Cruzin' with the Cops cancelled for 2013

The Cruzin' with the Cops annual Classic Car Show will take a hiatus for 2013.  The show, which has been a staple in the Portland Metro area cruise community, has been held 7 of the last 8 years.  The Cruzin' with the Cops is a unique opportunity for the law enforcement professionals in Clackamas County to mingle with classic automobile aficionados.  The public gets a chance to talk with police and sheriffs and learn what they do and how they use their equipment, which is also on show-and-tell. The artwork on the shirts is totally the coolest of any car show in the Pacific Northwest, thanks to the talents of Forensic Artist Joyce Nagy.  Trophies are also very special and one-of-a-kind. The Cruzin' with the Cops, held annually in July at the Clackamas County Fair & Event Center in Canby, is hosted by the Clackamas County Peace Officers' Benevolent Foundation, a charitable non-profit.  The Clackamas County Peace Officers' Association has been a major sponsor.  Funds raised help to pay for kids to attend the Shop with a Cop event each December. The cancellation this year is mostly due to a lack of volunteers to help with the planning of the event, as well as the difficulty in today's economy to get police agencies to send officers and equipment for the public to interact with. Mike Zacher Sr, a Deputy with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, has been part of the Cruzin' since it was started.  Mike has the reputation of running one of the best judging operations for a cruise in anywhere. If anyone would like to assist with the planning of a Cruzin' with the Cops for July 2014, contact the Benevolent Foundation.
